Lauren Haren is a classically trained violinist and violist based in Northern Virginia, with a vibrant career as a performer and educator. She studied with teachers including Linda Sinanian, Jeff Forden, Steve and Leslie Fayette, Alan Bodman, and Cory Smith, and has received coaching and masterclasses from artists such as Ilya Kaler, Maria Bachman, Andrés Cárdenes, and members of the Harlem String Quartet.
Lauren has performed with distinguished soloists and conductors including Matthias Bamert, Gil Shaham, William Preucil, and Marvin Hamlisch; appeared with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Akron Baroque; and toured Italy with the Protégé Chamber Group. She has also performed at the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute & Festival, studying with top-level faculty and guest artists.
She is Assistant Principal Violist with the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra, where she serves on the Artistic Committee. She freelances with ensembles including the Arlington Philharmonic, Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra, and Main Street Chamber Orchestra, performs chamber music with the Leesburg Chamber Players, and curates and performs with Sonore Quartet in Lucketts.
In education, Lauren is adjunct faculty of violin and viola at Northern Virginia Community College Loudoun, an Orchestra Clinician for Loudoun County Public Schools, and coaches and leads masterclasses for the Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra strings throughout their season and summer orchestral institute. She is a member of MTNA, ASTA, NVMTA, and regularly adjudicates festivals and judged recitals.
Lauren holds a Master of Music in Viola Performance and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Akron, along with a certificate with distinction from Northwestern University in violin and viola pedagogy. She lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, son, and four cats, and enjoys reading historical fiction novels and cooking and baking in her free time.
